Hagstrom Engineering was contracted by Marshall Public Schools to provide Land Consulting and Development and Civil Engineering services for a redesign of the Marshall Middle School Parking Lot.  The existing school is located in a residential neighborhood near the intersection of East Main Street and State Highway 23 in Marshall, MN.  With the increase in student passenger vehicles drop offs and pick ups, the layout of the existing parking lot was determined to be unsafe and vehicles were queuing on side streets due to only one lane being available for parking lot entrance as well as no routing layout within the lot.  Hagstrom Engineering worked with Marshall School staff to determine a layout that would help with the safety and flow of traffic by adding a vehicle entrance lane, additional on-site queue lanes, separate bike lanes, sidewalks, one way traffic routing, and parking lot/pick up area separation. Civil Construction Documents were developed, and the project was constructed in 2026.

The project included parking lot, sidewalk, utility connection, grading, erosion control SWPPP, and photometric coordination on the 2.8 acre area of disturbance.  Site design and erosion control best management practices met City of Marshall as well as MPCA criteria.
